A Cellar built in total harmony with the Champagne area scenic

February 2010

Like Springs, 2010 is the year of a new reborn for Champagne Baron Albert with a cellar built in total harmony with the Champagne area scenic.

This one will be built with two levels.

-   The Cellar, directly dig in the chalk, is a cellar of ageing our Champagnes. 1 500 000 bottles will be able to be stocked in the bonification shadow of this cellar.

-   The first level will be the area where the inox cellar completely thermoregulated of 10 000 hectoliters will be located. This one is composed of:

  • 2 mixing vats with a capacity of 600 hectoliters each
  • a serie of inox vats for the vinication for a total capacity of 8 600 hectoliters
  • a park of 77 oak barrels made in France. Barrels will vinify and age a part of our Chardonnay as well as our red wine
  • 3 pneumatic presses recognized for finest quality and with a capacity of 8 000 kg each. The last one was bought at the harvest 2008.

This cellar will be modern and functional - and, will be operational for the harvest 2010.

A viticulture thought and reasonable

February 2010

Our Champagnes are from a viticulture thought in harmony with our Region and its Terroir. To be able to preserve it as long as possible, we did put some grass in our vineyard on the superficies of 6 hectares. In function of the composition of their under-grounds, some of the vineyards welcome betters the permanent grass. We did just give a touch of grass on those parcels.

In autumn, just after the harvest we sowed grass in our vineyards. This farming practice wich is used very seldom, allows:

  • prevention of the soil erosion during winter,
  • protection of the bacteriological activity of the soil,
  • the soil and vineyard's nutrition in addition to the natural "nutriment" of the soil.

A mowing should control the growing of the grass.

The Baron Albert Champagnes, always ahead of progress

Since Februar 2009

The Baron Albert's brothers, passionately fond of winegrower profession, have and will always cultivate their vineyards in the respect of environment. Therefore, since almost 20 years, the Baron Albert Champagnes invested themselves in practising rational viticulture:

  • we use the triennial displaying of barks in vineyards in order to minimize the soil's erosion as much as possible. This technology also allows to reduce the transfer of "phytopharmaceutic treatment" residues to underground water.
  • The permanent under grass we put in some parts of our vineyards are adapted to this technology and allows to restrict the channeling and the erosion.

Always very concerned to practice a rational viticulture, we are equipped with a BIOBAC since July 2008. Biobac description :

Principle: the "phytopharmaceutic" products are degradable in the soils, most of the time by micro-organisms (such as bacterium and fungus)

Idea : use the soil as a bio-reactor to dissipate the "phytopharmaceutic" products in the effluents.

This very advanced technology that we have put in place will allow us to move forward for the conservation of our environment.

A quality sign with the using of cork named "Mytic Diamant"

Since 2007

"The end of the cork taste". All the winegrower in France and abroad have dreamed to tell this sentence to their customers. At least, Champagne Baron Albert is able to say it.

The taste of cork have worried the whole wine profession since decades and until today nobody could solve this problem, especially with sparkling wines. Because of the cork named Mytic Diamant, winegrowers from Champagne have found THE solution.

For the last three years, being entirely satisfy by the obtained results with our Champagnes, we have decided to cork all of our production with this new process.
